A UK Foreign Office Minister on Monday addressed a question in Parliament about the conflict in Kachin State, saying the British government was “deeply concerned” by reports of an escalation in hostilities, including the use of Burmese military helicopters and aircraft against Kachin Independence Army positions near state capital Laiza.
The Chin National Front (CNF) have re-established their headquarters in Than Tlang Township, Chin state, following agreements that were reached during union-level peace negotiations with the central government. The new headquarters has been named Camp Victoria - the same as the one it replaced in India, but was closed in 2005 after pressure by the Indian government.
