Govt to explore mining in Chin State

Myanmar's Ministry of Mines will begin tests for metal mineral exploration in Chin State, the country's most impoverished region, the minister responsible has told Mizzima.

Burma army's Kachin offensive continues despite President's claims, says KNO

The Kachin National Organization (KNO), the largest exiled Kachin political organization, issued a statement last Friday that strongly condemned President Thein Sein's position that there isn’t any more fighting in Burma.  Throughout his European trip, which wrapped up last Friday, Thein Sein repeated the government line that armed conflict in the country had ended despite mounting evidence that fighting in Kachin state continues unabated.

President Thein Sein has been extended official invitations to visit Australia and New Zealand in the near future, state-run newspaper The New Light of Myanmar has reported.

S Korea expresses interest in new Yangon airport

ၾသစေၾတးလ် ႏိုင္ငံ ကင္ဘရာ အမ်ိဳးသား တကၠသုိလ္တြင္ က်င္းပမည့္ ၂၀၁၃ ခုႏွစ္ ျမန္မာႏိုင္ငံႏွင့္ ဆိုင္ေသာ ညီလာခံတြင္ “ ျမန္မာႏိုင္ငံ၏ ဒီမုိကေရစီစနစ္ က်င့္သံုးျခင္းႏွင့္ ရခိုင္တို႕၏ ကံၾကမၼာ” စာတမ္းကို ဖတ္ၾကား သြားမည္ဟု သိရသည္။
